PIRC investigation: Crown directed investigation following death of 50-year-old woman


The Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service (COPFS) has instructed the Police Investigations & Review Commissioner (PIRC) to carry out an independent investigation following the death of a 50-year-old woman in relation to an incident at a property in St Andrews on Saturday 17 September 2016.

Elizabeth Bowe was taken to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee for treatment but died on Tuesday 20 September 2016.

The investigation focused on the initial police response leading up to the incident.

A report on the Commissioner's findings has now been submitted to the COPFS.
