PIRC investigation: Crown directed investigation following death of 39-year-old man


The Police Investigations & Review Commissioner (PIRC) has now submitted its report to the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service (COPFS) following an investigation into the circumstances leading up to the death in custody of 39-year-old Brian Wingate.

The man became ill after being detained by Police Scotland on Friday 25 November 2016.

He was then transferred to the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley, where he later died that day.

A report into the findings has been submitted to the COPFS.
