Commissioner makes 1 recommendation following complaint handling review
The Police Investigations & Review Commissioner (PIRC) has made 1 recommendation in a complaint handling review (CHR) published today, Tuesday 11 April 2017.
The complaint, 506.16, arose from Police Scotland's decision to refuse the applicant's firearms certificate application.
The applicant had complained that he was unhappy with the information provided to him by an Inspector during a meeting in November 2015.
The review by the PIRC found that the applicant's complaint had not been dealt with to a reasonable standard.
One recommendation was made that statements should be obtained from Inspector C and Sergeant D to clarify the content of their discussion with the applicant about his air weapons and whether the applicant was given any expectation that an air weapons certificate would be granted. A further response should then issued to the applicant to re-assess whether or not his complaint should be upheld.
