Commissioner submits report to Crown into circumstances leading up to the death in custody of 39-year-old Brian Wingate


The Police Investigations & Review Commissioner (PIRC) has now concluded its investigation into the death in custody of 39-year-old Brian Wingate.

The investigation focused on the circumstances leading up to Mr Wingate's death. He became ill after being detained by Police Scotland on Friday 25 November 2016 and was transferred to the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley, where he later died.

A report on the Commissioner's findings has been submitted to the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service (COPFS).
